How to Start a YouTube Automation Channel
YouTube automation is a hot topic right now, and for good reason. Imagine a YouTube channel that generates income and grows even while you sleep. Sounds like a dream, right? It’s not as far-fetched as you might think.
What is YouTube Automation?
YouTube automation involves creating content through a systematized process, often using AI tools and outsourced help. This means less time spent on mundane tasks like video editing and more time focusing on strategy and growth.
Why YouTube Automation?
- Passive income: Earn while you focus on other projects.
- Scalability: Grow your channel faster than traditional methods.
- Flexibility: Work from anywhere, anytime.
- Low barrier to entry: Minimal upfront investment required.
Steps to Launching Your YouTube Automation Channel
- Target a High-Paying Niche:
- Research niches that offer high CPM (cost per thousand impressions). Some examples include finance, technology, health, and business.
- Use tools like vidIQ to identify trending topics and keywords in these niches.
- Find a ‘Content Gap’ in Your Niche:
- Study Your Competition: Analyze successful channels in your niche. Look for topics they haven’t covered or angles they haven’t explored.
- Identify Underserved Audiences: Find sub-niches or specific interests that aren’t being fully addressed.
- Look for High-Demand, Low-Supply Keywords: Use keyword research tools to find topics people are searching for but with limited video results. Again, vidIQ is a good option for this.
- Switch to Incognito Mode: Search your niche on YouTube in incognito mode to see unbiased search results and uncover potential gaps.
- Build Your Content Machine:
- Team Building: Outsource tasks like scriptwriting, voiceovers, editing, and thumbnail design to experts on platforms like Upwork or Fiverr. You can search either of these platforms for ‘Cashcow Channels’ as well which will bring back multiple results for people providing automation services. As a minimum, you will require a video idea, video script, video editing, voiceover, SEO and one of the most important, but often overlooked aspects of your video, the video thumbnail.
- AI Tools: Leverage AI to streamline content creation.
- Use AI-powered voiceovers – there are a couple of different options here, but the one I have found leaps and bounds the best, is ElevensLabs
- Video editing tools (Pictory, Invideo, Canva)
- Canva is the perfect and ideal tool for the creation of thumbnails, but there is also the option of generating your thumbnails using the power of AI – something such as Pikzels which can generate amazing thumbnails in the matter of seconds is great. ChatGPT can also be used if you have a subscription.
- Scriptwriting assistance to save time and resources – here you can use ChatGPT or Google Gemini. Just be sure you don’t copy and paste, use it as a starting point only.
- Content Strategy: Plan your content calendar, focusing on evergreen topics that can generate views over time.
- Optimize for Search: Use strong keywords in your titles, descriptions, and tags to get your videos seen.
- Promotion: Cross-promote your channel on social media and other platforms.
- Engage Your Audience: Respond to comments, ask for feedback, and build a community around your channel.
Additional Tips for YouTube Automation Success:
- YouTube Algorithm – you want to get the algorithm to start ‘pushing’ your videos. YouTube search alone will never bring you the majority of your views, what you need are YouTube recommendations, which essentially means the YouTube algorithm is showing your video to others via the homepage and recommendations on other videos. You want to get on the right side of the algorithm and the below tips are important to achieve this.
- Consistency is Key: Regularly publish high-quality content to keep your audience engaged. YouTube likes a regular publish schedule, when the algorithm can predict when your next video will be published, it will count in your favor.
- Click Through Rate (CTR) is very important and directly relates to your video title and thumbnail, the more people clicking on your video the more YouTube will realize that this is a video people find interesting and start recommending it. I have found that you need to be north of 6% as a very minimum.
- Average View Duration (AVD) – Well, CTR above is only one side of the coin, no point in people clicking on your videos, only to stop watching straight away. YouTube wants people who stay on the platform for longer, so the average view duration of your videos plays a big role. Your videos need to make people want to view, but then once they start viewing, keep them engaged. No mean feat.
- Experiment and Learn: Don’t be afraid to try new formats and see what resonates with your audience.
- Stay Informed: Keep up with YouTube trends and algorithm changes to optimize your strategy.
- Don’t Give Up: Building a successful channel takes time and effort.
Important Considerations:
- Copyright: Be mindful of copyright laws and use only royalty-free music and footage.
- Transparency: Be upfront with your audience about the use of AI and outsourced help if you choose to go that route.
